Some people are just unlucky. Whether it’s down to a broken mirror, walking under a ladder, karma or just fate, you never know when a huge block of ice is going to fall from the sky and hit you in the face.

The following footage shows the moment a street cleaner came just feet away from what would have inevitably been certain death, when a huge block of ice “fell from a plane” passing overhead.

Serhiy Mysehkov’s work route found him directly under a flight path to Heathrow Airport near London’s Kew Gardens on Wednesday. Then, out of nowhere, he was shaken by a 45 lbs sheet of ice crashing down just across the road from him.

Check out the amazing footage here:

The amazing footage was captured by 39-year-old taxi driver Amir Khan at approximately 9 am on his vehicle’s dashcam.

The footage begins with Serhiy bending down to pick litter from the ground, before he starts to scout the rest of the sidewalk.

Amir told the UK’s Evening Standard:

“It was like the start of a disaster movie like The Day After Tomorrow. It made such a loud noise like a meterorite crashing down. The street cleaner was so confused and scared.”

A local liquor store owner pressured the nearby airlines to ensure that incidents like this don’t happen again because “school kids always walk along there”.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority said they receive around 30 reports of ice falls each year.

A CAA spokesman added: “Although ice does very occasionally fall from aircraft, it can also be the result of meteorological phenomena.

“We receive around 30 reported ice falls every year, although we are not certain how many of these incidents are the result of ice falling from an aircraft.”

Talk about luck…
